Festival Makanan Jalanan Tahun 2013

Bagi sebagian wisatawan, kuliner tradisional adalah salah satu hal terpenting dalam perjalanan wisata mereka. Makanan tradisional yang seringkali di jual di pasar atau di pinggir jalan sehingga disebut makanan jalanan, di Asia biasanya berkaitan erat dengan tradisi masyarakat setempat.

Karena itu, seringkali makanan jalanan juga bisa menjadi daya tarik wisata. Jadi acara ini tentu menarik bagi para penggemar makanan tradisional, yaitu Acara World Street Food Congres yang diselenggarakan di Marina Bay Singapura pada tahun 2013.

Mulai dari tanggal 31 Mei hingga 9 Juni, makanan jalanan terbaik di seluruh dunia ditampilkan bersama dalam acara world street food jamboree. Pada hari itu, 37 makanan jalanan pilihan dari 10 negara akan berpartisipasi dalam acara itu. Semua makanan itu dipilih sendiri oleh KF Seetoh, founder dari komunitas makan sutra dan founder acara ini.

Menurut Mr Seetoh, acara ini bukan hanya tentang perayaan makanan dari seluruh dunia, tetapi juga untuk melestarikan, meningkatkan profesionalitas, dan memunculkan kemungkinan baru yang lebih baik untuk makanan tradisional ini.

Dalam acara ini, makanan Indonesia yang ikut tampil di sini adalah Kerak Telor dari Jakarta, Nasi Kapau dari Agam, Pisang Roa dari Manado, juga Soto Tangkar dan Sop Iga dari Jakarta.

Selain acara world street food jamboree, acara lain yang diselenggarakan dalam world street food congress adalah the world street food dialogue, dan the world street food awards. Selain ketiga acara itu, world street food congress juga diramaikan dengan acara demo masak masterclass, live music, dan hiburan lainnya.

Acara World Stret Food Dialogue pada tanggal 3-4  Juni 2013, menampilkan Chef Antony Bourdain, host dari acara the American Travel Channel series No Reservation, KC Seetoh, founder dari makansutra and acara ini, William Wongso, ahli kuliner dari Indonesia, James Oseland, Redaktur Pelaksana Majalah American Saveur, dll.

Bagian membahagiakan dari acara ini bagi orang Indonesia adalah , karena dalam acara World Street Food Award 2013, empat makanan Indonesia menerima penghargaan, yaitu:
Sate ayam ambengan Pak Sadi di urutan pertama
Sate ayam barokah Haji Basiri di urutan enam
Nasi campur Ayam Kampung khas Bali Made Weti di urutan 11
Rumah Makan Nasi kapau afdal pada urutan ke 16

For some traveller, food is one of the important part of their experience along their journey, especially street food. Street food in Asia, ussualy has conection with local culinary tradition. That’s why street food sometimes can become an interesting tourist attraction.

So, this must be an interesting event for all street food lover, that always attracted by food with tradition and made by local. The event was the world street food congress that held in Marina Bay, Singapore, on June, 2013. From the 31st of May till the 9th of June, people could tasted the world’s best street food in world street food jamboree at F1 Pit Building and Paddock.

There were 37 vendors and foodtrucks that selected from 10 countries that participated in that food festival. All were picked by Mr. KF Seetoh, the founder of makansutra community because of the taste, heritage, and popularity of those food.

According Mr. KF Seetoh, the aims of this food congress was not only for celebrating the street bites from around the world but also to preserve, professionalise and create new possibilities in this most endearing food culture.

Five indonesian street food also participated on the street food jambore, they were kerak telor from Jakarta,  nasi kapau from Agam, West Sumatra, pisang roa from Manado, soto tangkar and sop iga also from Jakarta.

The world street food congress has 3 component: the world street food jamboree, the world street food dialogue, and the world street food awards. Besides those 3 component, there is masterclass cooking demonstration, live music, and other entertainments.

On the World Stret Food Dialogue on 3rd and 4th June 2013, there were some renowned street food advocates, great thinkers and stakeholders that come to discuss the importance and the future of the street food industry, they were Chef Antony Bourdain, popular host of the American Travel Channel series No Reservation, KC Seetoh, founder of makansutra and this event, William Wongso, indonesian prominent culinary expert, James Oseland, Editor-in-chef at American Saveur Magazine.

And the best part of this event for Indonesian is, that in the World Street Food Award 2013, four Indonesian street food had awarded as the world street food master, they were:
Sate ayam ambengan Pak Sadi in number one
Sate ayam barokah Haji Basiri in number six
Nasi campur Ayam Kampung khas Bali Made Weti in number eleven
Rumah Makan Nasi kapau afdal in number sixteen
